Edinburgh

Yes, I cover Edinburgh.

Everything else on this site says Fife, so it is worth saying plainly. Edinburgh is a twenty-minute crossing and a market I work in properly, not an afterthought.

Where I actually am

Pavels Kozemjakins, trading as Pavels Tech Heaven, based at 34 Hope Street, Inverkeithing, KY11 1LW. That is about half an hour from central Edinburgh, and I am not going to put a rented Edinburgh address on a website to look closer than I am.

What it means in practice: remote help is exactly the same wherever you are, and onsite visits work well as long as the trip is worth making, which is what the two-hour minimum is for.

Coming out to you

How onsite works in Edinburgh.

Two zones, and the difference is your postcode. You are told which applies before a visit is booked, never after.

Central Edinburgh

No travel supplement

1-hour minimum

Central Edinburgh counts as part of the core local area, on the same terms as Inverkeithing or Dunfermline. Nothing is added for getting there, and the minimum booking is the same one hour.

Edinburgh Outskirts

£20 travel supplement

2-hour minimum

Outside the central area means crossing the city rather than arriving into it, which roughly doubles the travel. One flat supplement per visit, whatever the length.

Onsite rate

£85 first hour, then £65/hour

Plus the supplement above where it applies. One supplement per visit, never by the mile and never by the minute. Care Plan members have their own onsite rates, shown on the pricing page.

No travel at all

Most things do not need a visit.

Email that has stopped working, a new starter to set up, an account nobody can get into, a website change. All of that is remote, which means no travel, no supplement and no minimum booking. It is usually the same day I pick it up, and it is cheaper for you.

The visits worth making are the ones where something has to be physically looked at, and those are worth planning rather than rushing.

When

Support hours.

UK local time. Enquiries can be submitted at any time. Work outside these hours is by prior arrangement only. This is not a 24-hour or emergency service.

Questions from Edinburgh businesses

  • Do you actually come out to Edinburgh, or is it remote only?

Both. I come over for onsite work, and a lot gets sorted remotely without anyone travelling. The onsite minimum for Edinburgh is two hours either way, which is what makes the trip worth making.

  • Why is the minimum booking two hours?

Crossing the bridge, traffic and parking take real time even when there is no supplement to pay. A two-hour minimum means the visit is worth making rather than the travel eating the job.

  • How do I know which supplement applies to me?

It comes down to your postcode, and I check it when you book. You are told the supplement and the minimum before the visit is confirmed, so there is never a charge you did not know about.

  • Are you based in Edinburgh?

No, and I would rather say so than pretend otherwise. Pavels Tech Heaven is based at 34 Hope Street, Inverkeithing, KY11 1LW, about half an hour away. Edinburgh is a market I work in, not a second office.

  • Is the price different for Edinburgh?

No. Services and prices are exactly the same wherever you are. The only Edinburgh-specific things are the onsite minimum and whether a travel supplement applies.
